STEM Challenge!

11th Apr 2017

Three children from P.6 and P.7. took part in a STEM challenge today.

The day involved several schools competing against one another in teams of three, to design and build a vehicle which could hold an egg and travel the farthest distance down a ramp. The children were supplied with basic technology materials and had to plan and build their vehicle within a given time. They had to work in a team to find the best solution. The children were scored on their teamwork, their plan, the design of their vehicle and how far it travelled.

STEM gives young people the opportunity to gain real experience of research and development, and problem solving, as well as preparing them for a career in science, maths, technology and engineering. Our pupils had a fantastic time!
