P6 Swimming
Your child’s class will be attending swimming lessons at Queen’s PEC on the following Thursdays:
22/9/22, 29/9/22, 6/10/22, 13/10/22, 20/10/22, 27/10/22, 10/11/22, 17/11/22, 24/11/22, 1/12/22 and 15/11/22
A swimming assessment will take place for your child on either 22nd or 29th Sept. On the first day each child must do a swimming test to determine their ability in water. This assessment also involves teaching the children how to use the steps to safely enter and exit the water. As you can imagine, this can be time consuming, which is why only half of the class will go to the swimming pool at a time during these initial two weeks. Your child’s teacher will let them know what date their swimming assessment will take place.
Swimming lessons are an integral part of the curriculum and all children are expected to attend.
The cost of each lesson will be £20 (£2 per week) and should be paid via the Teacher 2 Parent app. For children who are entitled to free school meals the cost will be £10. Please note, you will not pay for the assessment week in which your child does not attend the pool.
Queen’s PEC requires the children to wear a swimming cap.
The children will walk to and from the pool and will therefore need a coat on wet days.
We would appreciate any parents who can volunteer to walk with the children to and from the pool on the morning of the lesson.
