Welcome to Miss Hyland’s P5 class!

It’s great to be back learning and playing together again.

Our first P5 topic is ‘Mesolithic Me’. Throughout this topic we will be focusing on how humans lived during this time. We will be investigating early man, creating cave art, exploring the human body, making comparisons between then and now, and designing a ‘Mesolithic Menu’!

Here are some activities that you may wish to try at home to support your child’s learning at school.

• Go to the library and look for books about the Stone Age and how humans have developed through time.
• Talk to your child about your own knowledge of early man.
• Encourage your child to create pieces of art work relating to this topic.
• Talk about the human body and how we can take care of it.
• Discuss healthy eating with your child and encourage your child to ‘eat well to live well’.
• Go for a nature walk to find natural materials to create a Mesolithic hut.
• Bring your child on a walk to The Giant's Ring.
• Bring your child to the Ulster Museum and heritage sites.
• Ask your child to share their knowledge with you on Early Man. Discuss with them the differences between then and now.
