'Connecting Classrooms' Chinese Visit

6th Dec 2015
'Connecting Classrooms' Chinese Visit

Holy Rosary is currently in a Connecting Classrooms partnership with a primary school in Zhuzhou in the Hunan province of China. This is following Mr McAllister's visit to the school in October 2014. The project is facilitated by the British Council and involves 10 NI schools & 10 Chinese schools.

As part of the project staff are involved in reciprocal visits. This week 10 Chinese teachers plus 5 education officials arrived in Belfast. Their time here was action packed and their schedule included:

*Visit to host and other local schools throughout duration of stay to observe classes, assemblies, present to staff and exchange curricular information

*Stormont: reception by John O'Dowd, Minister for Education, tour of Parliament Buildings, access to Young Scientist/STEM facilities

*Ceili dancing/Irish language session at An Culturlann

*Reception by Newry, Mourne & Down District Council

*Presentation, tour and planning session at Holy Rosary PS

...and much more!

During the planning session we were able to finalise the details of projects between partner schools to encourage sustainable contact. We look forward to sharing more details on this with you shortly.

In the new year it is hoped that staff from the NI schools will visit their partner schools in China.
